Acomb, a parish in the liberty of St. Peter's; 2 miles W. of York. The
church is an ancient small structure, and being seated on a dry and elevated
situation, a number of families choose it for their place of sepulchre. Here
is also a newly erected Methodist chapel, likewise a School, built by
voluntary subscriptions of the inhabitants, and vested in certain trustees,
upon Dr. Bell's plan of education. Population, 733.
